Open-Ended Play
Open-ended play is the cornerstone of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education. Outlast playthings are designed to encourage imaginative play and child-directed learning. This type of play is best supported by loose parts, rather than fixed structures.
"The problem solving when you're using the Outlast Blocks is how do we make this boat we want to be in, what parts do we need, what will fit? There's a lot of math and there's a lot of estimating. I think we need it this high, how many blocks will that take? Sometimes for children, they don't ever get to be in their boat, it's all about the building and the problem-solving that comes with that, and there's just no opportunity with fixed equipment in the same way."
