Outlast playthings are designed with the environment in mind. These natural wood products are weatherproof and sourced from abundant, fast-growing trees.
- Weatherproof: Outlast products are made from acetylated Accoya wood, which has been proven to last for decades in direct contact with the ground. Outlast will not warp, shrink, twist, or rot and does not need covered storage, whatever the weather.
- Non-toxic: Outlast wood has been treated by Acetylation. This is a treatment process that is child-safe and environmentally friendly, while making the wood rot resistant. The only byproduct from this process is acetic acid (vinegar).
- Durable: To complement the weatherproof wood, Outlast products are fastened with stainless steel hardware and UV-resistant rubber. Outlast is backed by a 10-year warranty.
- Easy care: Acetylated wood may eventually weather to a natural gray. Mud can be scrubbed off with water and any standard detergent.
- Sustainable: Outlast uses only fast-growing, abundant trees harvested from certified sustainably managed forests.
Durability Case Study: Netherlands Canal Lining
Certain environments are particularly punishing, but few are harsher than the banks of canals where wood is used to hold back the earth. In the Netherlands, canal linings were traditionally made using tropical hardwoods, but with this no longer an option, an alternative was needed.
Accoya, the same wood used for Outlast, was tested for this purpose. The result?
